As Romantic As It Gets

I love sending Valentine's Day cards! Unfortunately, I am not good with words and I don't want to send a card that just says "Happy Valentine's Day" or "Sending You Hugs and Kisses".  So this is what I do. I just type one of my favorite love poems. How can I compete with William Shakespeare, Pablo Neruda and Nazim Hikmet? 

You can never underestimate the packaging though so I try to make my cards pretty, using fonts I like, printing on beautiful card stock, sending in bright pink envelopes.

I chose E.E. Cummings' "I carry your heart with me" to print on my cards this year that will go to my valentines.  It's my once a year opportunity to share my favorite poems with them besides making sure they know how much I love them and how grateful I am for their existence in my life. Cheers to love!

Old Hollywood Glamour Wedding in London

Happy new year everyone!  My new year resolution for 2018 is to get better keeping a blog and share with you my Papel Amor journey.  And here comes my first blog of the year 2018!

Nicole and Eamonn Hogan's wedding suite in 2016 has a special place in my heart.  First of all, Nicole is a very old friend of mine that I love and admire a lot.  When she asked me to create her wedding suite, I felt so honored.  I was also so touched because she lives in London and she put a lot of trust in me to create her wedding invitations from a far away destination. Then there is the fact that I've been designing wedding invitations for quite some time but never had an old Hollywood glamour theme before.  I really enjoyed working with black, champagne color, shimmery, gold glittery papers, art deco fonts and motifs.  And last but least, they surprised me by using the monogram I designed for them all through their wedding.  I had designed this monogram to be used for their wax seals. I couldn't attend their wedding which was such a bummer.  But when I saw their wedding photos, I knew for sure that they liked this monogram a lot!

It was on the dancing floor!

It was on the bar decoration!  And it was on the wedding cake!  They were not just pretending to like it because I was their friend after all.

Typographic Confetti Wedding Suite

It was such a privilege to craft the invitations for Defne & Ali, a Turkish couple who got married in Paris.  Invitations were in Turkish, menu cards were in French and Turkish. They chose the typographic confetti design from our selected examples page. Per bride and groom's request confetti colors were changed to pastel peach tones to match their wedding color scheme.  Invitations were digitally printed on Lettra's 100% cotton paper, mounted on Envelopments slate gray card stock and sent ou to invitees in warm white envelopes.  We were delighted to see these precious photos that bride & groom generously shared with us.

Dragon & Phoenix for Harmonious Marriage

Our Taiwanese American customers wanted an invitation with a dragon and a phoenix since according to Chinese tradition dragon and phoenix dancing in harmony represents a harmonious marriage.  We printed the invitation on 24K gold metallic paper and sealed the metallic red envelopes with gold wax seal.  The symbol on the wax is double happiness.
